Fall Vows Planned by Valley

Rexburg- Oct 6- Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Eckersell Saturday announce the approaching marriage of their daughter, Dorothy, to Forrest Weber Kennington of Bedford, Wyo.

Miss Eckersell is a graduate of Madison High and graduated from junior college at Ricks. She taught school in Shelley prior to her leaving for an LDS northern California mission. Mr. Kennington is the sone of Mrs. Martha Kennington, Afton, Wyo., the young couple plan to be married October 10, in the Idaho Falls Temple. They will make their home in Bedford where Mr. Kennington is engaged in farming.

Bridal Shower

Miss Eckersell was honored at a bridal shower this week at the home of Mrs. Jack Lewis.

Cohostesses with Mrs. Lewis were Mrs. Laura Ashliman, Mrs. Edward Beck, Mrs. W.J. Lyman, Mrs. Albert Pieper, Mrs. Gilbert McKinlay, Mrs. Ruth Ricks, Mrs. Thomas Archibald and Mrs. Wayne Smart.

Original songs by Mrs. Archibald were sung by the group and were followed by her giving advice to the bride. Joyce Berry played two piano solos. Mrs. Willis Nelson and Mrs. Stanley McCulloch sang a vocal duet and Donna Walz gave a history of the bride. Following a luncheon the bride opened her gifts.

THOMAS ASAEL JOHN WOODRUFF Idaho Thomas Asael John 73 died Friday in a Salt Lake City hospital of heart failure He had been there about three weeks for open heart He was born March 31 1902 in Portage Utah to Thomas Parley John and Annie Maria Wells John He was a prominent farmer and stock raiser in Southern Idaho He married May Vereen Morris Oct 19 1921 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple He was reared and educated in Portage Utah and graduated from the College in Logan Utah He was an active member of the LDS Church He served in the Woodruff Ward Bishopric 11 years He was bishop of the Cherry Creek Ward 11 years He was on the Oneida County School Board three terms and was president of the Samaria Grazing Association years He also worked for the Sugar Co 45 years Surviving are his widow of Woodruff three sons and three daughters Asael Mardell John of Roy Utah Dennis John of Malad Lynn Morris John of Great Falls Mont Mrs. Sharp of Bountiful Utah Mrs Lowell Vona Mae Dunn of Murray Utah and Mrs. Darlene Jacklin of Lakewood Colo and 23 grandchildren and four great Funeral services will be 1 p.m Monday at the Cherry Creek LDS Ward Chapel with Bishop Donald F Vaughan officiating Friends may call at Benson Funeral Home this evening and at the Cherry Creek Ward after 11 a.m. Monday Burial will follow in the Portage Utah cemetery

Married At Noon Wednesday

A pretty wedding mid autumn season took place Wednesday at noon, at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Lewis. Of 1120 West Tremont Street, when their daughter, Miss Zola Uarda Lewis became the bride of Richard Herbert Taylor, of Conneaut. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. C. H. Donaldson, pastor of the First Baptist Church. Preceding the ceremony, Miss Marian Taylor, a sister of the groom sang “At Dawning.” During the entrance of the bridal party Mendlessohn’s wedding march was played by Miss Eulalia Lewis, a sister of the bride.

The bride was lovely in a wedding gown of ivory georgette trimmed with Irish point lace and carried and arm bouquet of roses and lilies of the valley. Following the ceremony a wedding breakfast was served by Mrs. Bertha Kerr and Mrs. Fred Chenny of Conneaut. Those at the bride’s table were Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Lewis, Mr. and Mrs. Guthrie, Mrs. Elizabeth Taylor and the Rev. C. H. Donaldson. A wedding cake formed the centerpiece. The house was effectively decorated with autumn flowers and foliage.

The bride is a graduate of the Conneaut high school and of the Kent Normal School and was formerly a member of the teaching staff of the Conneaut public schools. The groom’s connected with the Bessomer Railway Company. The bride received a number of beautiful gifts, including silver, crystal and a set of hand painted china, a gift of her parents. After a short wedding trip east, Mr. and Mrs. Taylor will live in Conneaut. The out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Guthrie, Mrs. Elizabeth Taylor and Miss Marian Taylor, of Conneaut. Telegrams of congratulations were received from friend in Cleveland and Kent.

Tremont Injuries sustained Thursday morn ing when an auto she and three en route church workers at Youngstown and a car driven by John Martig of Louis ville collided at the intersection of Routes 44 and 224 at Randolph re in the death of Mrs Mary Blanche Lewis 116 8th SW at the Robinson Memorial hospital Ravenna early Mrs Lewis sustained skull fractures over each eye a punctured lung frac tures of each wrist and severe face lacerations She was the driver of the Other Injured Women Improve The other occupants of all of whom were injured were Mrs Margaret wife of the Rev J Rodger Sillars pastor of the Central Presbyterian church Mrs Charles Wagoner of 7th SW extension and Miss Emma Meuser of 221 3rd NE The condition of all three was reported improved today Miss Meuser was taken from the Ravenna hospital to the residence of Miss Minnie Goehler of 424 1st NE Friday Mrs Sillars is confined at the Massillon city hospital to which she was removed Thursday evening and Mrs Wagoner still is in the Ra venna hospital I Mrs Lewis was an active church worker and was associated with most of the womens organizations of the Presbyterian church The day of the accident was the final of her term as president of the Womans Missionary society of the church She also was a teacher for several years of the Westminster Bible class Active Lodge Member

Miss Eulalia Lewis, of 310 Henry street, returned Wednesday evening, from a two weeks' visit with her sister, Mrs. R. I-I. Taylor, at Conneaut.
While there Miss Lewis played the wedding march at the wedding of Miss Reta Saville and
John Warrtwell.

Queen Esther Society
Twelve members of the Queen Esther society of the Wesley Methodist church met Tuesday evening at the residence of Mrs. Fred Spidell, of Edna street. The wedding date of Miss Leola Dunham and Alvin Korn was announced as April 10. The house was attractively decorated in
keeping with St. Patrick's day. Games -were enjoyed. A miscellaneous shower was given for Mrs.
Spidell and Mrs. Van Noot of Dover who were recently married. Mrs. SpirleH, before her marriage, was .Miss Edna Axxe and Mrs. Van Koot was formerly Miss Smart.
The next meeting will be held April 14 with Miss Eulalia Lewis, of Henry street.

Miss Mary Louise Spuhler, of
Henry street, SW, entertained 12 members of the Queen Esther society of the Wesley M. E. church, Tuesday evening. Plans were completed for the fall festival to be held, October 18. Miss Vida Beamer reviewed the study book. The next meeting will be held at the residence of Miss
Eulalia Lewis, of Henry street, SW, in November.

Miss Eulalia Lewis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Lewis, of 116' Eighth street, "SW., left, today, for Conneaut where she will spend the week-end with her sister, Mrs. R. H. Taylor. From Conneaut she will go to Ashlabula and join a party, leaving Monday morning, on a motor
trip to Denver, Colo. Miss Nclita Seymour, a teacher in the Ashtabula public schools, who is one of the party, and Miss Lewis will attend the University of Denver, at Denver, during the summer sessions. Before returning home, they will go to Yellowstone National park, the Grand Canyon of
the Colorado, Salt Lake City and other places of interest.

Quiet Marriage Is solemnized

In a quiet ceremony solemnized Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the parsonage of the South Side Church of Christ, Miss Joan Stiles, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Stiles, Perry-tp, became the bride of Harry McBeth, Jr.. son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry McBeth, Sr Oak-st. The Rev. E. J. Penhorwood of- fixated at the ceremony, and the couple was unattended.
The bride was attired in a street length frock of deep blue velvet, trimmed in white lace, nnd
she wore turf tan accessories and a corsage of pink and yellow roses.
Mr. and Mrs. McBeth will reside at 223 Haller-st. The bride was graduated from Harrod high school, and is rmolojed at the Westinghousc. Mr. McBeth is a graduate of Central
high school and is employed at Kennedy s Body shop.

The funeral cortage of the late Mrs. Jane McBeth Vennetta arrived from Cleveland on Tuesday at
one o'clock accompanied by her nephew, Harry McBeth and his uncle,
L. Monroe Miller, of Conneaut.
They were met by a number "of Steubenviile friends at C P station and the funeral took place on tha arrival of the train, Rev. Eakin, of the Second D. p.
Church held the services at the grave and she was laid to rest besides her ancestors in the union cemetery by judge W. MacD. Miller, T.W. Vance, w.s. walker j E. Mcgowan, Frank D Sinclair and r.m. Mahon. Mrs. Vannetta was an old resident of Steubenville and comes from a family of longevity her oldest sister Mrs. Mary Hanvey is living in Indianapolis, at the advanced age of 92, and her sister Miss Ann McBeth, in Cleveland in her 87th year and Mrs. Vannetta was 82 at the time of her death. She is also survived by the following nieces and nephews: Susan Hanvey and brothers, George and Albert of Indianapolis, Mrs. Lucy Fleming Crossley, Chicago; Harry Macbeth and sister of Conneaut. O.

Mr. and Mrs. Carl Eiche, 218 E. Vine St., announce the engagement of their eldest daughter, Shirley, to Pfc. Herbert H. McBeth, USMC, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry McBeth, Route 1, Wayriesfield. Shirley, a graduate of South High School, is employed as a secretary in the office
of that school.
Her fiance, who is stationed with the U. S. Marine Corps at Cherry Point, N. C., attended South High School.

SELECTS TEXT, PRAYS
AND THEN DIES
Marion, 0 , Feb 15 —Selecting the text which she requested the minister to use at her funeral, Mrs. Susan McBeth, 70 years old, of Scott township,breathed a prayer Friday and died. She seemed to realize that her time had come, and. placing herhand upon her old, worn Bible, directed a granddaughter to find the seventh verse of the fourth chapter of 2d Timothy, which reads as follows:
"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith."
