Rexburg- Oct 6- Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Eckersell Saturday announce the approaching marriage of their daughter, Dorothy, to Forrest Weber Kennington of Bedford, Wyo.

Miss Eckersell is a graduate of Madison High and graduated from junior college at Ricks. She taught school in Shelley prior to her leaving for an LDS northern California mission. Mr. Kennington is the sone of Mrs. Martha Kennington, Afton, Wyo., the young couple plan to be married October 10, in the Idaho Falls Temple. They will make their home in Bedford where Mr. Kennington is engaged in farming.

Bridal Shower

Miss Eckersell was honored at a bridal shower this week at the home of Mrs. Jack Lewis.

Cohostesses with Mrs. Lewis were Mrs. Laura Ashliman, Mrs. Edward Beck, Mrs. W.J. Lyman, Mrs. Albert Pieper, Mrs. Gilbert McKinlay, Mrs. Ruth Ricks, Mrs. Thomas Archibald and Mrs. Wayne Smart.

Original songs by Mrs. Archibald were sung by the group and were followed by her giving advice to the bride. Joyce Berry played two piano solos. Mrs. Willis Nelson and Mrs. Stanley McCulloch sang a vocal duet and Donna Walz gave a history of the bride. Following a luncheon the bride opened her gifts.

Married At Noon Wednesday

A pretty wedding mid autumn season took place Wednesday at noon, at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Lewis. Of 1120 West Tremont Street, when their daughter, Miss Zola Uarda Lewis became the bride of Richard Herbert Taylor, of Conneaut. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. C. H. Donaldson, pastor of the First Baptist Church. Preceding the ceremony, Miss Marian Taylor, a sister of the groom sang “At Dawning.” During the entrance of the bridal party Mendlessohn’s wedding march was played by Miss Eulalia Lewis, a sister of the bride.

The bride was lovely in a wedding gown of ivory georgette trimmed with Irish point lace and carried and arm bouquet of roses and lilies of the valley. Following the ceremony a wedding breakfast was served by Mrs. Bertha Kerr and Mrs. Fred Chenny of Conneaut. Those at the bride’s table were Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Lewis, Mr. and Mrs. Guthrie, Mrs. Elizabeth Taylor and the Rev. C. H. Donaldson. A wedding cake formed the centerpiece. The house was effectively decorated with autumn flowers and foliage.

The bride is a graduate of the Conneaut high school and of the Kent Normal School and was formerly a member of the teaching staff of the Conneaut public schools. The groom’s connected with the Bessomer Railway Company. The bride received a number of beautiful gifts, including silver, crystal and a set of hand painted china, a gift of her parents. After a short wedding trip east, Mr. and Mrs. Taylor will live in Conneaut. The out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Guthrie, Mrs. Elizabeth Taylor and Miss Marian Taylor, of Conneaut. Telegrams of congratulations were received from friend in Cleveland and Kent.

Tremont Injuries sustained Thursday morn ing when an auto she and three en route church workers at Youngstown and a car driven by John Martig of Louis ville collided at the intersection of Routes 44 and 224 at Randolph re in the death of Mrs Mary Blanche Lewis 116 8th SW at the Robinson Memorial hospital Ravenna early Mrs Lewis sustained skull fractures over each eye a punctured lung frac tures of each wrist and severe face lacerations She was the driver of the Other Injured Women Improve The other occupants of all of whom were injured were Mrs Margaret wife of the Rev J Rodger Sillars pastor of the Central Presbyterian church Mrs Charles Wagoner of 7th SW extension and Miss Emma Meuser of 221 3rd NE The condition of all three was reported improved today Miss Meuser was taken from the Ravenna hospital to the residence of Miss Minnie Goehler of 424 1st NE Friday Mrs Sillars is confined at the Massillon city hospital to which she was removed Thursday evening and Mrs Wagoner still is in the Ra venna hospital I Mrs Lewis was an active church worker and was associated with most of the womens organizations of the Presbyterian church The day of the accident was the final of her term as president of the Womans Missionary society of the church She also was a teacher for several years of the Westminster Bible class Active Lodge Member

Miss Eulalia Lewis, of 310 Henry street, returned Wednesday evening, from a two weeks' visit with her sister, Mrs. R. I-I. Taylor, at Conneaut.
While there Miss Lewis played the wedding march at the wedding of Miss Reta Saville and
John Warrtwell.

Queen Esther Society
Twelve members of the Queen Esther society of the Wesley Methodist church met Tuesday evening at the residence of Mrs. Fred Spidell, of Edna street. The wedding date of Miss Leola Dunham and Alvin Korn was announced as April 10. The house was attractively decorated in
keeping with St. Patrick's day. Games -were enjoyed. A miscellaneous shower was given for Mrs.
Spidell and Mrs. Van Noot of Dover who were recently married. Mrs. SpirleH, before her marriage, was .Miss Edna Axxe and Mrs. Van Koot was formerly Miss Smart.
The next meeting will be held April 14 with Miss Eulalia Lewis, of Henry street.

Miss Mary Louise Spuhler, of
Henry street, SW, entertained 12 members of the Queen Esther society of the Wesley M. E. church, Tuesday evening. Plans were completed for the fall festival to be held, October 18. Miss Vida Beamer reviewed the study book. The next meeting will be held at the residence of Miss
Eulalia Lewis, of Henry street, SW, in November.

trip to Denver, Colo. Miss Nclita Seymour, a teacher in the Ashtabula public schools, who is one of the party, and Miss Lewis will attend the University of Denver, at Denver, during the summer sessions. Before returning home, they will go to Yellowstone National park, the Grand Canyon of
the Colorado, Salt Lake City and other places of interest.

Quiet Marriage Is solemnized

In a quiet ceremony solemnized Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the parsonage of the South Side Church of Christ, Miss Joan Stiles, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Stiles, Perry-tp, became the bride of Harry McBeth, Jr.. son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry McBeth, Sr Oak-st. The Rev. E. J. Penhorwood of- fixated at the ceremony, and the couple was unattended.
The bride was attired in a street length frock of deep blue velvet, trimmed in white lace, nnd
she wore turf tan accessories and a corsage of pink and yellow roses.
Mr. and Mrs. McBeth will reside at 223 Haller-st. The bride was graduated from Harrod high school, and is rmolojed at the Westinghousc. Mr. McBeth is a graduate of Central
high school and is employed at Kennedy s Body shop.

The funeral cortage of the late Mrs. Jane McBeth Vennetta arrived from Cleveland on Tuesday at
one o'clock accompanied by her nephew, Harry McBeth and his uncle,
L. Monroe Miller, of Conneaut.
They were met by a number "of Steubenviile friends at C P station and the funeral took place on tha arrival of the train, Rev. Eakin, of the Second D. p.
Church held the services at the grave and she was laid to rest besides her ancestors in the union cemetery by judge W. MacD. Miller, T.W. Vance, w.s. walker j E. Mcgowan, Frank D Sinclair and r.m. Mahon. Mrs. Vannetta was an old resident of Steubenville and comes from a family of longevity her oldest sister Mrs. Mary Hanvey is living in Indianapolis, at the advanced age of 92, and her sister Miss Ann McBeth, in Cleveland in her 87th year and Mrs. Vannetta was 82 at the time of her death. She is also survived by the following nieces and nephews: Susan Hanvey and brothers, George and Albert of Indianapolis, Mrs. Lucy Fleming Crossley, Chicago; Harry Macbeth and sister of Conneaut. O.

AND THEN DIES
Marion, 0 , Feb 15 —Selecting the text which she requested the minister to use at her funeral, Mrs. Susan McBeth, 70 years old, of Scott township,breathed a prayer Friday and died. She seemed to realize that her time had come, and. placing herhand upon her old, worn Bible, directed a granddaughter to find the seventh verse of the fourth chapter of 2d Timothy, which reads as follows:
"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith."

TO A FORMER STEUBENVILLE MAN
Who Has Resigned His Position with the Nickel Plate Railroad Shops.
The following relates to a former Hl'Mibenville man who was born and rcarr-.'l in this city
"After twenty-one years of actual service with the Nickel Plate, Albert Macbeth was forced to resign his position as blacksmith foreman, because of i ll health. No man ever left the Cleveland shops that was more popular with the employes and officials than Mr. Macbeth. Yesterday a committee composed- of Messrs. Elvin, Onion; and Welch drove to the home of Alb. Macbeth on the Lake road, and in behalf of the officials and fellow workmen, presented him with a handsome
testimonial In the shape of a very pretty morocco bound book and a purse of gold amounting to $200.
The book contained the following resolutions:
Mr. A. Macbeth:
"Dear Sir:—After twenty-one years of service as foreman of the blacksmith shop of the N. Y. C. & St. L. Railway Company, you have, on account of your prolonged sickness, tendored
your resignation. Your associates and your friends connected with the railroad service to which you have given the best years of your life, join in extending to you this expression
of their appreciation of those qualities of honest, nigged manhood so prominent in your character. Your exceptional ability as a mechanic is unquestionable. Your devotion to the
best interests of the company has been fully recognized and appreciated by your superiors in official position.
Your faithfulness, actuated by a spirit of kindness to the men of your own shop, has been rewarded by a loyal, hearty support on their part in meeting the requirements of tho company,
and their continued friendship. As a token of the friendship and kindly _____ which has actuated this expression, the employes of the. N. Y. C. & St.
L. Railway Company desire your acceptance of this purse of gold and with It the assurance of their sympathy and sincere wishes for your comfort, now that you no longer enter into the activities of life.

Following these signatures came a list of over 300 of the local employes arranged in alphabetical
order. The book Is of flneparchment. On the cover are the words, 'Albert Macbeth, 1882-1JHM.' The presentation speech was made by John Elvin in behalf of the many contributors and Mr.
Macbeth, though in a feeble condition from his Illness, responded with words of deep appreciation."

Chrysanthemums j were used in the decorations. During a business meeting . •were made for the December meeting to be held at the church in the form I of t Christmas party, Tuesday. Dec.
6, when gifts nnd articles of clothing will be brought for Miss Smith's Home for Girls at Tiny Fort, near Martins retry. The gifts will be packed in a box and sent as a Christmas gift.
Assisted By Daughters The remainder of the afternoon was spent informally. The hostess was assisted in serving refreshments by her daughters, Mrs. Richard Taylor and Mrs. Albert MacBeth.

DAMAGE SUITS.
Damage suits totaling twenty five thousand dollars were filed in the circuit
court at Ft. Wayne, one against the Ft. Wayne & Northern Indiana
Traction Company filed by Alva M. Rensbarger, administrator of the estate
of Luther A. Kensbarger, fur ten thousand dollars; one against Albert Macbeth filed by Charles Herring asking ten thousand dollars and one against the Nickel Plate filed by Joseph Worden asking five thousand dollars. The suit against the traction company alleges that young Rensbarger attempted to board a car just this side of the Pennsylvania elevation on Calhoun
street and, that before he could get inside the motorman closed the door on him It is alleged that the piers under the elevation are fourteen feet apart and thirty-six inches from the tracks. As the car passed under the elevation, Konsberger was knocked against one of the piers and broke nit
hip, crushed his body and injured him so badly that he died eight days later.
The company is charged with . negligence. William K Clapbam is attorney for tbe plaintiff.

Mrs, Jane McBeth Vannotta
Entered into rest at the Dorcas home in Cleveland on Sabbath morning. June 12, 1921, after weeks illness, haying been stricken with paralysis, aged 82 years.
Mrs. Vannetta was a daughter of Peter McBeth, a pioneer resident of Steubenville. and was born in m cottage,at the corner of Fifth and _ Logan " streets, that was known as the McBeth home for
over a half century. She was a woman of pleasing, personality and lias lived a retired life for
many years with her malfien sister, Miss Ann McBeth. who has also been a Resident of Cleveland
for a number of years and is the font of her father's family at the age. of 86 years. Miss Ann and
her nephew' Harry A. McBeth, Sunt, of the Nickel Plate Railroad, v d and sister Bertha, of Con
icaute, Ohio, children of her brother, Albert McBeth. are the only members . of. the family living.
Her remains' will be brought to this city from Cleveland on Tuesday at one o'clock,
the funeral to be held from the C. & P. station upon the arrival of the train.

SURPRISED BY WESLEY QUEEN ESTHER SOCIETY
Miss Eulalia Lewis, of 116 Eighth street, SW., was pleasantly surprised, Wednesday evening, by members of the Queen Esther society, of the Wesley Methodist Episcopal church. Miss
Lewis recently returned from an 11 weeks tour of the west and while in Denver attended a summer session at Denver university. The evening was spent looking at curios and specimens
of Indian work which Miss Lewis brought back with her. During the evening Miss Vida Beamer, the retiring president of the Queen Esthers, announced that during her absence Miss Lewis had been elected president of the society. Dainty refreshments were served. Those present
were the Misses Mary Louise Spuhler, Dorothy Yocum, Mary Julia McConnaughy,
Grace Watts, Blanche Bweasey, Vida Beamer, Dorothy Hoilinger, Mrs. Walter HoIJinger and
Pearl Hollerbach.

wedding trip east, the bride and groom will live in a newly furnished house 749 Commonwealth avenue, NE.
The bride's Traveling costume consisted of a blue crepe ensemble with hat to match. Quantities.of gifts, including- silver, china; crystal and linens were received by- the bride. The

societies taking part in the affair gave talks, including Mrs. W. O. Nish, of the Alpha Guild, Mrs.
M..W. Wilker, .of the Beta Guild, Mrs. J. C. Mertes of the G«mma Guild and Mrs. C. E. Wagoner of the Woman's Missionary society.
Refreshments were served by the committee in charge which comprised

Mrs. Hauger was presented with a beautiful gift by H. L. Stoner in behalf of the officers and committees of the chapter and a gift from Miss Esther Rhodes, deputy grand matron for 1933. B. B. Beck, worthy patron, received a gift from the guests, Howard J. Moseley making the presentation.

Harry A. Macbeth 76 of 123 Wales rd NE died at his residence this morning after an Illness of 4
years.
He was born in Steubenville, O., but had lived hi Massillon for the past 20 years.
He was a retired employe of the Wheeling and Lake Erie railroad of which he was superintendent of the power and car division. Prior to that he had been employed by the Nickel Plate railroad where he was a master mechanic for 37 years.
Mr. Macbeth was a member of the Congregational church of Conneaut, O., and of the K. of P. lodge at Conneaut.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Florence E. Macbeth; a daughter, Mrs. Maynard Kilpatrick of Tipp City, O.; 3 sons, Donald P. of Massillon, Albert C. of Chagrin Falls, p. and T-Sg£. Monroe A. Macbeth. U. S. Army Signal corps in Italy; 3 sisters, Mrs. Bertha Kerr of Cleveland, Mrs. Tracey Baldwin of East Springfield, Pa., and Mrs. Anna James of California; and 4 grandchildren."
The funeral will be held at the Gordon - Shaidnagle - Hollinger funeral home Thursday at 4 pf m.
and interment will be made in the Glenwood cemetery, at - Conneaut.!

Church Carpeting Completed

Members of the congregation of the Central Presbyterian church are looking forward to the services Sunday, when they will have the first opportunity of seeing the new carpet which
has been laid in the auditorium and slab in the auditorium of the church school. This will be the first occasion of the sort that has come to the local congregation since the church was dedicated, at which time the carpet which is so familiar to worshipers at the church, was laid.
The congregation is deeply indebted to the committee' which has completed its work so satisfactorily, members of whome are Dr. H. P. Hart, chairman, Mrs. A. H. Anthony, Mrs.
Albert C. MacBeth, D. D. McLaughlin and Mrs. Charles H. Kratz.

Taken to Brother's Home

A short funeral service for Mrs. Westana Macbeth, who died Thursday at the residence of her son, Harry Macbeth of 105 Pietzcker ave, was held at the residence Friday evening at 7 o'clock, the Reverend R. H. Kirk, and the Rev. R. C. Ellsworth, officiating.
The body was taken this morning, to the residence of her brother T. M. Miller of Conneaut, where the funeral will be held and interment made.

Mrs. Westana Macbeth 77, died at the residence of her son, Harry Macbeth, of 105 Pietzcker avenue, Thursday evening at 6:30 o'clock, following an illness of three weeks. Besides her son Harry, the survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Bertha Kerr, of Massillon, Mrs. L. C. Baldwin,
of Chicago, and Mrs. M. James, of Los Angeles; two sons, L. M., and T. M; Miller, of Conneaut, 10 grandchildren, and a!x great-grandchildren.
A short funeral service will beheld tonight' at 7 o'clock at the residence of 'Harry Macbeth, 105
Pietzcker avenue, the Rev. Mr. Kirk, of Ellsworth, officiating. The body will be sent to the home of T. M. Miller at Conneaut Saturday morning, where the funeral will be held and interment made Sunday afternoon.

Jesse Baker

Jesse was born in South Carolina and orphaned as young children at age 8. An uncle In 1815 took them in and eventually relocated to southern Indiana, Clark County. He married Sarah Robertson in 1823.

Lafayette Jesse Baker (1845-1920)

Sarah Robertson, aka Sally, a twin to Franky, was born August 24, 1799, in Virginia; died in June 1866, in Monroe County, Indiana. Sally married Jesse Baker on July 9, 1823 in Clark County, Indiana. Jesse Baker was born 1798 in South Carolina, and died about 1876 in Bloomington, Indiana. Children born to the union of Sarah Robertson & Jesse Baker are, as follows:

James Alexander Baker was born August 20, 1824, in Clark County, Indiana; died August 24, 1900, in Monroe County, Indiana. James married Margaret Ann Littell on January 29, 1851. Margaret Ann Littell was born October 26, 1831; died January 02, 1890, New Albany, Indiana at age 58 years. James Alexander Baker served with the Indiana Volunteer Infantry in the Mexican War in 1846.

JAMES A. BAKER, farmer and stock-raiser, was born in
Clarke County, Indiana, on August 20, 1824, and is the eldest of the family of nine children of Jesse and Sarah (Robertson) Baker, natives of South Carolina and Virginia, respectively. Jesse Baker was orphaned when seven years old, and went to live with an uncle, with whom, in 1815, he came to and settled in Clarke County, there married, farmed on leased land until 1831, when he purchased land, and remained thereon until 1848, at which time he purchased a saw and grist mill near Utica, managed the same until 1854, and afterward farmed until his death in 1876, aged seventy-eight years, his wife having preceded him in 1866. He was a Democrat, and a member of the Christian Church. James A. Baker worked for his father and attended school, but obtained the major part of his education by after-study. In 1846, he enlisted in Company I, Third Regiment Indiana Volunteer Infantry; recruited for the war against Mexico, in which he served one year, and took part at Buena Vista. After returning, he engaged in milling with his father, and in 1854 purchased land, farmed until 1857, after which he bought land near Utica, and August, 1865, located at his present home, comprising 225 acres of good grass and farm land. Mr. Baker is a hard-working man, and for thirty years combined his trade of carpentering with farming and stock-dealing. January 28, 1851, he married Margaret A. Littell, with an issue of six children--Jesse T., Reuben A. (deceased), Sarah A., Charles E., Mary Luella and William F. (deceased). Mr. and Mrs. Baker are members of the Church of Christ.

was born about 1827; died before 1870. Nancy married a Mr. Haines on December 28, 1846.

William Henry Baker
was born about 1829. William married Sarah Louisa Denny. Sarah Denny was born May10, 1840.

Reuben M. Baker
was born May 19, 1831, Clark County, Indiana; died September 23, 1912, Sumner, Pierce County, Washington. Reuben married Sarah Elizabeth Goss on September 30, 1860, Washington County, Indiana. Sarah Goss was born August 10, 1833, Washington County, Indiana; died September 10, 1910, Sumner, Pierce County, Washington (In Miss Lulie's book she indicates 9/29/1910).

Margaret E. Baker
was born about 1834.

Allen B. Baker
was born in August 1837. Allen married Isabella Sturdivant Cowling.

Lucinda Baker
was born about 1838 and died 1913. Lucinda married Henry Levi Denny. Henry Denny was born about 1838 and died October 23, 1930, (age 92).

Charles W. Baker
was born about 1838.

David A. Baker
was born about 1840.

Lafayette Jesse Baker was born May 26, 1845, Clark County, Indiana; died June 23, 1920 at Alexandria, Madison County, Indiana; married Mary Emily Sturdivant on September 5, 1867, at Charleston, Clark County, Indiana. Mary Sturdivant was born about 1850; died about 1905, and is buried in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Madison County, Indiana. Note: Lafayette & Mary Emily divorced May 17, 1894 in New Albany, Floyd County, Indiana. He lived at the National Military House, Marion, Grant County IN 1907-1912, alternated living there and Alexandria until his death about 1920.
