JOHN WELLINGS & MARY BEEMAN
We do not have a history of Job Welling's grandfather, John Wellings.
Job wrote that his grandfather John Wellings married Mary Beeman the daughter
of James Beeman, a butcher by trade and Margaret (Peggy) Brown.
John Wellings and Mary Beeman were married 25 July 1799 in Audlem, Chesh,
England. Job stated that John and Mary Beeman had four sons and one daughter.
Research gives them five sons and one daughter. Their first child Mary was born
in Audlem, Chesh. Eng., John was born in Astley, Shrops., Eng. and Bap. in Maer
Staffs, Eng., James Bap. in Liverpool, Lanes. Eng. and again in Astley, Shrops.
England. Joseph, George and Thomas were all born in Astley, Shrops., Eng.
The mother Mary Beeman was born, died and buried in Audlem, Chesh, England.
Audlem, Chesh, Eng. and Shrewesbury, Shrops, England are only 25 miles apart with
Astley in between and Maer, Staffordshire very close.
Job's Grandfather, John^who married Mary Beeman,was a blacksmith and
this gives us a picture of him traveling at his trade to these localities until
after 1813 when their youngest child was born there and perhaps longer.
Job wrote, "My Uncle William", All the research so far has not found a
William son of John Wellings. However, if it could be definitely proved as stated
in the records, Job's Grandfather John is the one born to William Wellings and Mary
and was bp. 10 Sept. 1775 in Shrewsbury, Shrops, England,in or near Shrewsbury .
We would have a place and date of birth for John Wellings who married Mary Beeman
and also Job would have his Uncle William , his father's youngest uncle , William
son of William. That generation would take our family line twenty miles south to
Onibury, Shrops, England. There are many Wellings in Shropshire records.
