John Welling (1803-1880)

JOHN WELLINGS - MARY ANN KEY
John Wellings who was born in Astley, Shrops, England and bp. 2 Jan. 1803
in Maer, Staffs., England near Newcastle was the father of Job Wellings.
He married Mary Ann Key from Audlem, Chesh., England. Their permanent residence
was in Audlem, Chesh., Eng. where all of their children were born - six sons
and two daughters and one premature daughter that Job said would have been named
Ann if she had lived.
John Wellings was a Postman and a sawyer. He lost his right hand in a
threshing machine accident. He was still alive when Job Welling returned to
England on his way to Australia on a mission. They were very happy to see each
other after an absence of about twenty years. Job visited each of his brothers
and sisters. Job's father, John Wellings, died at the age of 77 years in Nantwich,
Chesh., England close to Audlem. He was bur. in Audlem. Job Welling's mother had
died before Job returned to England. She died 18 Oct. 1865 and was buried in Audlem.
